Digital Wireless Handhelds added to the locker

Finding a good handheld wireless microphone to include in our microphone locker was no easy task. The right element, the right sound, good range are just a few of the things we considered before making our choice to use the latest offering from Line 6.
The main problem with most wireless microphones is that they use a technology called “companding”. In order for them to transmit the singer’s voice to the receiver with as little power as possible, they must first compress the audio and then decompress it when it reaches the receiver. A lot of the tonal qualities are lost in the process and the end result is less than desirable. The Line 6 XD-V70 microphones we use are digital. Therefore, they do not compress the signal and the result is corded-like sound. Full-range frequency response and wide dynamic range are just the tip of the iceberg.
Picking the right microphone for the singer is something to consider as well. Not all singers’ voices are the same, therefore we don’t use the same microphone for everyone. The XD-V70 is outfitted with digital models, or detailed sonic reproductions, based on* six top live-sound mics including a Shure® SM58®, a Shure® Beta 58A®, a Sennheiser® e 835 and more. With the touch of a button on the microphone shaft, you can select a model to fit your voice.
We’re happy with our choice to use Line 6′s XD-V70 microphones in our shows, we’re sure you will be as well.
