Finger Eleven

Finger Eleven is a Canadian rock band from Burlington, Ontario, formed in 1989. They were originally called the Rainbow Butt Monkeys. They have currently released five studio albums, with their album Life Turns Electric as their latest offering to the music world.

We had the opportunity to work with Finger Eleven and were blown away with their show. Front man Scott Anderson, accompanied by bandmates James Black and Rick Jackett, entertained the audience at Duty’s Uptown by performing acoustic versions of their songs new and old alike at this MAJIC 95.1 VIP Experience.

We hung out with the band while they got up close and personal with the audience after their meet-and-greet autograph signing. These guys are as friendly and down-to-earth as their music is good, making for a great night of music and company.

We had the pleasure of working with Kimberly Caldwell during a recent MAJIC 95.1 VIP Experience. Kimberly, a very lovely and talented artist, was the seventh place finalist American Idol contestant from season two.

Although she didn’t win American Idol, Kimberly went on to become an Entertainment Correspondent. After a few setbacks, Kimberly has released her debut album “Without Regret.” This Pop Rock album has the heavy guitar, raspy vocals, pop style music, and overall qualities of a Pop Rock singer Pink album.

You can check out her album and get more information about her on her website : Kimberly Caldwell

Digital Wireless Handhelds added to the locker

what's news No Comments

Finding a good handheld wireless microphone to include in our microphone locker was no easy task. The right element, the right sound, good range are just a few of the things we considered before making our choice to use the latest offering from Line 6.

The main problem with most wireless microphones is that they use a technology called “companding”. In order for them to transmit the singer’s voice to the receiver with as little power as possible, they must first compress the audio and then decompress it when it reaches the receiver. A lot of the tonal qualities are lost in the process and the end result is less than desirable. The Line 6 XD-V70 microphones we use are digital. Therefore, they do not compress the signal and the result is corded-like sound. Full-range frequency response and wide dynamic range are just the tip of the iceberg.

Picking the right microphone for the singer is something to consider as well. Not all singers’ voices are the same, therefore we don’t use the same microphone for everyone. The XD-V70 is outfitted with digital models, or detailed sonic reproductions, based on* six top live-sound mics including a Shure® SM58®, a Shure® Beta 58A®, a Sennheiser® e 835 and more. With the touch of a button on the microphone shaft, you can select a model to fit your voice.

We’re happy with our choice to use Line 6′s XD-V70 microphones in our shows, we’re sure you will be as well.
